After that, you\u2019ll learn the blacksmith\u2019s work.<br data-start=\"1658\" data-end=\"1661\" \/>But first, you need to eat. You\u2019re still thin, so eat plenty.<br data-start=\"1722\" data-end=\"1725\" \/>In three years, I\u2019ll turn you into a strong young man\u2014just wait and see.<br data-start=\"1797\" data-end=\"1800\" \/>Be ready, though. Blacksmith work is hard. Don\u2019t give up halfway.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1868\" data-end=\"1959\">Dinah looked at the two of them sitting at the table, closed her eyes, and prayed silently.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1961\" data-end=\"1978\">\u201cThank you, God.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1980\" data-end=\"2029\">Then Jonathan prayed aloud for all three of them.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2031\" data-end=\"2161\">\u201cO Jehovah, Lord of heaven and earth,<br data-start=\"2068\" data-end=\"2071\" \/>You alone are the true God.<br data-start=\"2098\" data-end=\"2101\" \/>Please watch over us today.<br data-start=\"2128\" data-end=\"2131\" \/>Thank You for our daily food.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2163\" data-end=\"2541\">The first work of the morning was caring for the animals and feeding them.<br data-start=\"2237\" data-end=\"2240\" \/>This house had one donkey for carrying loads and two goats for milking.<br data-start=\"2311\" data-end=\"2314\" \/>They used to have a few sheep too, but after Jonathan was left alone, he gave them up.<br data-start=\"2400\" data-end=\"2403\" \/>Almost every day, neighborhood children took the goats to the hillside pasture.<br data-start=\"2482\" data-end=\"2485\" \/>The very first job in the morning was milking the goats.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2543\" data-end=\"2580\">Grandfather showed Luke how to do it.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2582\" data-end=\"2596\">\u201cNow you try.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2598\" data-end=\"2717\">Luke copied him and milked the goat.<br data-start=\"2634\" data-end=\"2637\" \/>It was easier than he had expected.<br data-start=\"2672\" data-end=\"2675\" \/>Fresh goat\u2019s milk quickly filled the bowl.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2719\" data-end=\"2836\">\u201cTake a sip,\u201d Jonathan said.<br data-start=\"2747\" data-end=\"2750\" \/>Luke drank straight from the bowl.<br data-start=\"2784\" data-end=\"2787\" \/>It smelled like fresh grass and tasted very good.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2838\" data-end=\"2877\">The cat, Theophilus, came limping over.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2879\" data-end=\"3098\">\u201cWhy don\u2019t you give the kitten some too?\u201d Jonathan said with a smile.<br data-start=\"2948\" data-end=\"2951\" \/>Theophilus eagerly drank the milk from a small dish, purring loudly.<br data-start=\"3019\" data-end=\"3022\" \/>His injured leg had almost healed, and his brave little spirit had returned.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3100\" data-end=\"3291\">In the animal shed, the donkey greeted Luke by showing its big teeth, as if it were smiling.<br data-start=\"3192\" data-end=\"3195\" \/>Its large ears looked funny.<br data-start=\"3223\" data-end=\"3226\" \/>Just as Grandfather had said, Luke gave it plenty of fresh straw.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3293\" data-end=\"3589\">\u201cWhen it\u2019s very cold in winter, we sometimes keep the goats and the donkey inside the living room,\u201d Jonathan explained.<br data-start=\"3412\" data-end=\"3415\" \/>\u201cWhen we still had sheep, the house was terribly noisy in winter\u2014<br data-start=\"3480\" data-end=\"3483\" \/>not quite like Noah\u2019s ark, but close!\u201d<br data-start=\"3521\" data-end=\"3524\" \/>Grandfather laughed.<br data-start=\"3544\" data-end=\"3547\" \/>Luke didn\u2019t quite understand the joke yet.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3591\" data-end=\"3796\">After a while, two boys came down the road, leading several goats and sheep.<br data-start=\"3667\" data-end=\"3670\" \/>Jonathan handed over the two goats and gave the boys generous pieces of bread and cheese.<br data-start=\"3759\" data-end=\"3762\" \/>The boys happily climbed the hill.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3798\" data-end=\"3884\">\u201cThey\u2019re the children of Joseph the carpenter and Mary\u2014Jude and James,\u201d Jonathan said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3886\" data-end=\"3992\">\u201cThen\u2026 um\u2026\u201d Luke hesitated, trying to remember.<br data-start=\"3933\" data-end=\"3936\" \/>\u201cAre they the brothers of that\u2026 you know\u2026 the \u2018Singer\u2019?\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3994\" data-end=\"4053\">\u201cThat\u2019s right,\u201d Jonathan said.<br data-start=\"4024\" data-end=\"4027\" \/>\u201cThey\u2019re Jesus\u2019 brothers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4055\" data-end=\"4102\">It was the first time Luke had heard that name.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4104\" data-end=\"4110\">Jesus.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4112\" data-end=\"4134\">So his name was Jesus.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4136\" data-end=\"4330\">Luke remembered the strange boy\u2014<br data-start=\"4168\" data-end=\"4171\" \/>how he would talk eagerly and then suddenly fall silent,<br data-start=\"4227\" data-end=\"4230\" \/>or sing as if he had forgotten the world around him.<br data-start=\"4282\" data-end=\"4285\" \/>Thinking about it made Luke smile to himself.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4332\" data-end=\"4379\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">And
