He was the man who took my daughter away,\u201d Jonathan replied.<br \/>\u201cThat face is not easy to forget.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">But Jonathan\u2019s eyes were smiling.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAlex was a good man,\u201d he went on.<br \/>\u201cHe did not look down on Jews. That was rare among Greeks.<br \/>He was humble, too. He helped my business and was a good customer.<br \/>I always thought it was only natural that Dinah fell in love with him.<br \/>He was a fine young man.<br \/>If only he had accepted circumcision and become my adopted son,<br \/>there would have been no problem.<br \/>But for his parents, that was impossible.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Jonathan sighed softly.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cYour grandmother and I could not accept that our daughter<br \/>was taken by people who did not believe in our God.<br \/>Now I regret it.<br \/>Perhaps I should have looked further ahead.<br \/>Alex was searching for the true God, after all.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Luke hesitated, then asked the question that worried him.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cDo I need to be circumcised too?\u201d<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cDo you plan to live here forever?\u201d Jonathan asked.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cNo,\u201d Luke replied.<br \/>\u201cI promised my grandfather in Troas.<br \/>After three years, I must go back and continue studying to become a doctor.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI see,\u201d Jonathan said thoughtfully.<br \/>\u201cFor those who are not Jews, circumcision should never be forced.<br \/>If you come to believe that our God is the true God,<br \/>then you may choose to receive it.<br \/>Some strict groups will complain, of course,<br \/>but you don\u2019t need to worry about that.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Jonathan smiled again.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cNow then, today is the Sabbath.<br \/>After lunch, you may do as you like.<br \/>Tomorrow I\u2019ll start teaching you some work.<br \/>While you stay here, you\u2019ll need to help out.\u201d<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">He pointed toward the hills.<\/p>\r\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\r\n\r\n<!-- wp:paragraph {\"fontSize\":\"medium\"} -->\r\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cIf you climb that hill, you\u2019ll see a fine view.<br \/>You\u2019re allowed to go that far even on the Sabbath.<br \/>You might even meet the \u2018chief of the
